Sturgeon Schools. United for A Cure, One Step at a Time

Despite the rain, sleet and snow that fell on May 27, more than 130 hardy citizens of Sturgeon County gathered at Foote Field, in Edmonton, to support the Canadian Cancer Society. Participants walked through the night to support cancer research. The Relay for Life ran from 7 p.m. on Saturday to 7 a.m. on Sunday. Rules stipulated that a member from each team had to be on the track throughout the event. The event was a joint effort between Sturgeon School Division, Sturgeon CUPE and the Sturgeon ATA local. Sturgeon schools had 15 teams representing schools and staff from central office. The teams raised more than $30,000.
